A unique material obtained from land
Extracting the residue from the sugarcane using its propriety technology, Kanya harvests a clean fiber, which is spun manually into thread then subsequently interwoven with local cotton. The result is a natural, environmentally friendly fabric.
In 2019, 48,000 meters of thread were produced from 100 kilograms of bagasse. The material was used for our first collection that we are existed for you to experience.
By reviving a traditional artisan weaving technique, this natural thread is transformed into cloths used to produce the Kanya collection.
This process takes place in bamboo ateliers amid sugarcane fields. A place where these unique pieces are an expression of the way of life for the local community. Behind each and every one of these pieces is someone’s story which we want to share.
